Josep Pedrerol, Furious, Lashes out at Simeone and Sends a Message to Florentino
The host of "El Chiringuito de Jugones" hasn't held back after the latest league gameday
The performance of the top three teams in the current LaLiga season has significantly altered the standings of the domestic championship. Only Real Madrid managed to secure three points in their game last weekend. Barcelona ended in a draw during their visit to the Coliseum, while Atlético didn't want to miss the chance to grab a point from their visit to Butarque.
However, the controversy isn't just about what happened in those three games. All of which had refereeing controversies that will be talked about until the next game. Josep Pedrerol wanted to focus, during the broadcast of El Chiringuito de Jugones, on Diego Pablo Simeone's words.
The coach spoke of "episodes like those that have been happening for a hundred years, I don't know what surprises them," refering to the game's controversy between Madrid and Celta. What happened in this Copa del Rey game last Thursday continues thanks to Carlo Ancelotti's reply and Dani Ceballos's bold move in his flash interview.
Be that as it may, Josep understands that "we're talking about something very serious, which is that Simeone, Real Madrid's great rival, accuses Madrid of a tainted history". This statement is joined by a personal opinion, because "I won't accept that Barça's history is tainted by Negreira for fourteen years. I won't accept that either".
Radical proposal
Josep Pedrerol understands that "no club's history is tainted. Let's all be careful, although indeed the Negreira issue has harmed Barça's image. But tainted, or that a team has been stealing for a hundred years? That can't be allowed to be said, neither to Simeone nor anyone else", the journalist concludes.
Such seems to be his displeasure regarding 'Cholo' Simeone's words that he doesn't hesitate: "If I were Florentino, I'd file a lawsuit tomorrow. If I were Florentino, I'd issue a Real Madrid statement tomorrow and respond to Simeone". Asserting that "I already know what this is about", the veteran Catalan journalist insists.
"Madrid has to issue a statement defending its club because Simeone says that very strange things have been happening for a hundred years. I think the populism of his audience works very well, but Florentino has to come out with a statement tomorrow and go after Simeone and tell him 'enough is enough'". His view on the matter couldn't be clearer.
The pointing at Real Madrid by its rivals doesn't seem to be new for the white executives led by Florentino Pérez. The president of Real Madrid, recently re-elected until 2029, seems to have other more important tasks for the club's future than responding to these usual and unfounded accusations.
