Exposed: the law that allows Real Madrid to sign Mastantuono at 17 years old
The arrival of the young Argentine could take place before the Club World Cup
Real Madrid seems to have made a clear move to secure the signing of Franco Mastantuono already. They don't want PSG to get ahead of them and they could even have him ready to play in the Club World Cup. However, the fact that he's 17 years old could pose a major problem in this regard.
Just as happened with other footballers like Endrick, they would have to wait until he reaches legal age. However, there's a law that would allow Real Madrid to sign him now, at 17 years old (17 years old). There's a precedent that would support Madridists if River Plate tries to stop the move.

It was the signing of Benjamín Garré, who came from Vélez and joined Manchester City at 16 years old (16 years old). Despite being Argentine, the striker also had an EU passport due to his Italian nationality. This is the same case with Franco Mastantuono and therefore we'd be in the same situation.
This was possible thanks to the exception in Article 19.2.b of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. Although Vélez reported City to FIFA and to CAS,the ruling was in favor of the Sky Blues. With an EU passport, he could sign for any team from the age of 16 (16 years old).
A signing for the Club World Cup that has taken an unexpected turn
Xabi Alonso is very close to having a new signing for the Club World Cup this summer. It will be an addition to the midfield, something he had requested from the board. Real Madrid seems willing to secure Franco Mastantuono right away.

It's true that PSG wants him too and they're going to offer a lot of money to try to convince River. But Madrid has the advantage despite the unexpected turn that happened last summer. They had everything on track, they spoke with him, but in the end, everything fell apart.
Mastantuono's agents used Real Madrid's interest to renew and raise his release clause. This wasn't discussed with Madrid, who also felt used. That led them to rule out his signing, but this summer they've started paying attention to him again.
