One of the most affected was Tomás Roncero, deputy director of Diario AS. The journalist dedicated an emotional letter to both, whom he considers "the best friends" he has had within the white club.

A friendship forged with the soul

Roncero confessed that it was easy for him to connect with them. He highlighted the humanity of both. "They have a clean heart," he expressed about the Italian and the Croatian.

He recalled that Ancelotti spoke of Modric's soul. Roncero completed it by assuring that Carlo also has a soul. That personal connection has been part of his admiration for both.

The journalist highlighted the historical relevance of the two. "They are allies of Real Madrid's most glorious era since Di Stéfano and Gento," he stated.

He recalled key moments: Ancelotti on the bench in Lisbon and Modric taking the corner for La Décima. Moments that marked a turning point.

He also confessed his sadness. "People are not ready to live without them at Madrid," he said with nostalgia. The double farewell on the same afternoon is something "unrepeatable."

Modric wanted to stay

Roncero also revealed something that many did not know. According to him, Modric wanted to stay one more year: "Money didn't matter to him. He asked for it," he assured.

He was left with the thorn of that "last dance" that will not come. He dreamed of one more season, with titles and joy. But fate has decided to close this stage now.

The white journalist is clear about it. From now on, Real Madrid will enter a new era. He said he will support Xabi Alonso, the future coach, and the new idols that arrive.
