Lewis-Skelly makes a decision after Madrid's interest, leaves Arsenal in shock
The surprise Arsenal experienced regarding the decision Myles Lewis-Skelly has made about his future
Throughout the season, one of the biggest revelations was Myles Lewis-Skelly. The young left-back, in his debut season with Arsenal, managed to secure a starting spot. Despite his young age, Skelly wasn't afraid to face players much more experienced than him, managing to outperform most of them on multiple occasions.
With an outstanding projection for the future, Real Madrid showed interest in acquiring his services. Facing the need to strengthen their left-back position, Real Madrid saw Skelly as the ideal player to fill this role. However, to Arsenal's surprise, Skelly completely ignored Real Madrid's interest to focus on his contract renewal.
Ready to sign a new contract with Arsenal, Skelly has clearly made a decision regarding his future. Rejecting the opportunity to be part of the best club in the world, Skelly has made it clear that he wants to play for a less ambitious project.

Skelly's unexpected decision
Having been part of Arsenal's youth academy from 2015 to 2024, Myles Lewis-Skelly managed to reach the first team last summer. An important step for a player who, despite the pressure, managed to perform extraordinarily. Playing 2,543 min. (2,543 minutes) throughout the season, Skelly was one of Arsenal's most important players.
His Champions League match against Real Madrid put him on the radar of the Madrid team for this transfer window. Showing his abilities both in defense and attack, Skelly proved to be the reinforcement Real Madrid was looking for at left-back.

However, his decision to renew his contract with Arsenal has been totally unexpected for the English and for Real Madrid. This has shown that, in the face of Real Madrid's interest, Arsenal was practically considering Lewis-Skelly lost.
Arsenal's luck
Expecting a move from Skelly to Real Madrid, Arsenal has been very lucky with the player's decision. Although Real Madrid has missed out on one of their targets for this transfer window, the club still has possible reinforcements for the left-back position.
