The list of jersey numbers Mbappé has worn throughout his career, club and national team
The Bondy forward faces another number change now that he is at Real Madrid
Luka Modric's departure from the first team has sparked a small debate that was quickly settled from the Valdebebas offices: who inherits the "10". The information published in recent days, as well as the brief message from the Bondy striker himself, has solved any doubts.
Kylian Mbappé will succeed Luka Modric as Real Madrid's "10", but this isn't the only jersey number change the merengue footballer has experienced in his career. The French striker played for two teams before arriving in Santiago Bernabéu locker room and is a prominent player for the French national team coached by Didier Deschamps.

AS Monaco
The first team where Kylian Mbappé gained prominence was AS Monaco. The Bondy striker began his career in the under-19 squad of that French sports discipline, where he wore the "25" jersey in the 14/15 season. The following year, he moved up to the first team, a move that earned him the "39" number.
The 15/16 season was a constant change of number for the merengue footballer, wearing jerseys like "33", "13", or even "11". He finished that season in the under-19 category, where he assumed the "10" for the first time in his life.
In the 16/17 season, his consolidation in the first team of the French discipline was complete: there he started with a "29" that soon became famous in the European football elite. That same season, he also wore the "11" and "9" jerseys, just before taking the "10" of the Monaco first team during the 17/18 campaign.
PSG
His transfer to the team presided over by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, at the end of summer 2018, brought him to the French capital with the "29". In the 18/19 season, he started with the "14" and finished the season with the "7", a first experience that would leave a mark for future campaigns. From that moment, Mbappé's jersey numbers at the rouge-et-bleu club seemed very clear.
Except for the start of the 19/20 campaign, which began with a "14" that wasn't unfamiliar to him, the rest of his time at PSG alternated between two numbers. He started his seasons wearing the "17", but as the football season progressed, he received his recognizable "7"... a jersey number he wore from the summer of 2019 until he left the team as a free agent in the summer of 2024.
Real Madrid
His arrival at Real Madrid, thanks to the free transfer he orchestrated to leave the Parc des Princes, gave him the opportunity to take the "9" left vacant by Benzema. It was, after all, the only jersey number available: the "7" belongs to Vinícius and the "10" was still Luka Modric's property.
The Croatian footballer's farewell, during this same summer of 2025, would have allowed him to take Real Madrid's "10". Finally, Kylian Mbappé can unify the jersey numbers he wears for both club and country, after nearly a decade of changing the numbers he wore on his back.
France
Kylian Mbappé's career with the French national team began in the 15/16 season, when he was still part of the France under-19s. In his first season as an international, Mbappé first wore "13" before settling with "11".
His promotion to the senior team didn't mean a fixed jersey number. He started the 16/17 season wearing "20", although that number fell out of use when the Bondy striker received "12" from the French Football Federation. Since the 17/18 season, prior to his World Cup victory in Russia, he received "10", a jersey number he has kept to this day.

These have been the jersey numbers Kylian Mbappé has worn throughout his career, both for clubs and national teams. Despite initial reservations with each team change, the French player soon showed he had what it takes to take on a top number in the European football elite... as has also happened at Real Madrid.
