Liverpool 'Cancels' Konaté's contract renewal and chooses a replacement for the Frenchman
The French footballer may be replaced sooner than it seems
Real Madrid is starting to look for solutions to expand its squad ahead of the summer transfer window of 2026. While it's true that this year's summer window has ended, the Valdebebas offices have several signings in mind that require a lot of work. One of the most notable is the signing of Ibrahima Konaté.
After all, Liverpool's number "5" is one of the most desired defenders by the Madrid sporting management thanks to his proven role as a footballer in the European elite. Also because of the conditions under which he would arrive at Santiago Bernabéu locker room: as a free agent, without paying a single euro to the leaders of the English team.

That's why the executives led by Florentino Pérez haven't lost sight of Ibrahima Konaté himself... but also of the moves that the red sporting management has made in recent weeks. All those decisions are supposedly aimed at replacing a footballer whom they are still trying to renew, even though the refusals are piling up at an alarmingly fast pace.
From the upper echelons of Anfield Road, they consider the French center-back lost: the influence of Real Madrid has been too much for those contract extension approaches. That's why the failed attempt to sign Marc Guéhi has caused so much annoyance in Merseyside. The Crystal Palace center-back was one of the chosen ones to replace Konaté right away, thus rejuvenating the heart of the defense under Arne Slot's command.
Another name for the list
This failed signing, in the final stages of the summer window of 2025, has led the English sporting management to look for one more player to strengthen its defensive ranks. The player who would fit those requirements right now is Gleison Bremer, a highly regarded footballer from Juventus of Turin.
With a proven performance in Serie A, the bianconero defender, 28 years old, would be on Liverpool's radar despite his serious injury last season. The cruciate ligament tear suffered by the verdeamarelo footballer during the 24/25 campaign hasn't stopped Igor Tudor from trusting him completely.

After all, Bremer has been a starter in both matches of the 25/26 Serie A played so far. This new Liverpool target, as revealed by TEAMTalk, won't be an easy signing for the executives led by sir Jim Ratcliffe. Especially knowing that Ibrahima Konaté's departure won't bring any financial benefit.
Gleison Bremer has a market value of €50 million and a contract with Juventus of Turin until the summer of 2029. His recent renewal, just over a year ago, makes him one of the pillars of the new sporting project at Juventus of Turin. That being said, Liverpool will have to invest a very large amount of money to secure the services of Ibrahima Konaté's replacement, whether it's Bremer, Guéhi, or another center-back.
