Real Madrid's 'Low-Cost' Signing for the Defense Within Reach
Real Madrid are very satisfied with the level he is showing in one of the best leagues in Europe
A few weeks ago, Real Madrid wasn't considering strengthening their defensive line for the upcoming summer market. However, the standout emergence of two young talents has caused an unexpected shift in planning. Dean Huijsen and Mario Gila, two center-backs with great potential in the European scene, have caught the attention of the club's sports department.
Initially, signing a defender wasn't in the plans, but the performance of both could lead the club to reconsider their stance. At Real Madrid, they are very alert to the level of Dean Huijsen and Mario Gila. In fact, the organization is very satisfied with the level they have been showing in recent weeks.

Mario Gila: The New Name for the Defense?
Mario Gila isn't a new name for Madrid fans. He is a player who knows the Real Madrid environment perfectly, having been part of their youth ranks before making the leap to Lazio in 2022. Since then, his evolution in Serie A has been remarkable.
The versatility that allows him to perform both as a center-back and a right-back could be key for returning to Real Madrid. Additionally, he is that type of fast player who stands out in the club's defense. Interestingly, this season he reached a speed of 23 mph (37 km/h) in one of Lazio's matches.
An Option Well Regarded at Real Madrid, But...
At 24 years old, Mario Gila has managed to establish himself in Serie A and has been drafted for the Spanish National Team. His growth as a footballer has sparked interest from several Premier League clubs and major teams like Inter and Juventus. However, Real Madrid has a strategic advantage: they own 50% of a future sale.

His return to the club would be easier than other signings, as his case is very reminiscent of Miguel Gutiérrez and other youth players. Nevertheless, at Real Madrid, they aren't entirely sure about making his return. Mario Gila is performing at a great level, but they don't believe he improves players like Asencio, Rüdiger, or Militao.
We will have to keep an eye on Real Madrid's moves in the market and the interest the club shows in the center-back. However, Mario Gila remains very focused on finishing the season in the best possible way.
