Madrid Makes Injury Official, Out for Anoeta and Won't Play Again This Season

Real Madrid has confirmed Jesús Vallejo's injury. The center-back suffers a tear in the biceps femoris of his left leg. He won't play again this season.

The club has issued a medical report informing about his ailment. The recovery timeline will be determined by his progress. But his time at Madrid has ended.

Decision Made: Vallejo Won't Play Anymore

For Carlo Ancelotti, his absence isn't a problem. The coach had already decided not to give him minutes. His contract ends this summer, and the Italian wants to give opportunities to players with a future at the club.

His situation became clear in the first Copa del Rey round. Ancelotti planned to field him against Deportiva Minera. However, Vallejo reported that he wasn't at 100%.

The discomfort didn't seem serious. But he didn't play. This caused unrest in the locker room. Ancelotti, upset, opted for the youth players Diego Aguado and Raúl Asencio.

Madrid Doesn't Count on Vallejo

The club hasn't intervened in this decision. But it hasn't put up any obstacles either. The management has been encouraging him to leave for some time. He has rejected several offers in recent transfer windows.

In January, Madrid left him out of some squads to allow him to find a new destination. He had options in Türkiye. He didn't want to leave.

The injury only confirms what was already feared.  Vallejo needs rhythm and confidence. Something Madrid can't offer him.
