Madrid Sets a Curious Goal for January: It's Worth More Than a Title

January's arrival brings the start of the much-anticipated winter transfer market. With this, several clubs have begun making multiple transfers to strengthen their teams. However, Real Madrid has a very different objective despite the possibility of transfering some reinforcements.

The goal for the Meringue team is to achieve the definitive return of David Alaba. The central defender, who has been out for a year, has finally made more than remarkable progress. Given the clear lack of a central defender for the defense, his return to the team is much more valuable for Madrid than any trophy. 

In a season where the defense has been affected by injuries, Alaba's return is key to strengthening the team. While his return still doesn't have a set date, it's getting closer to becoming a reality.

Suffering a cruciate ligament rupture a year ago, Alaba has been a very important absence for Real Madrid. The central defender, who joined the club in 2021, had established himself as a key piece of the club. Having been responsible for several successes achieved by the club in recent years, his injury severely affected the Meringue defense.

Due to this, and given the progress he has made with his recovery, his return is the team's goal. Despite being 32 years old, the Austrian's return would be a great relief for Carlo Ancelotti's game plans.

Given the complications he had, the club must ensure that the player doesn't suffer a relapse. In addition, the level at which he will return to the field remains a question that will be dispelled the more minutes of play he manages to get.
