Maldini reveals if Enzo Fernández will be a starter if he signs for Real Madrid: 'I don't...'

Maldini seems to be clear about Enzo's signing and whether he would be an undisputed starter at Madrid

In recent hours, the possible interest in Enzo Fernández, Argentine midfielder for Chelsea and a key player both in his club and in the world champion team, has begun to gain traction within Real Madrid's environment. The mere idea of seeing him dressed in white has caused divided opinions, although among those who strongly support him is Julio Maldonado, "Maldini".

The Spanish journalist has expressed that Enzo would be a high-level addition for the white team. From his perspective, the Argentine would surpass players like Dani Ceballos or Aurélien Tchouaméni in hierarchy and performance, to the point of considering him an immediate starter in the merengue line-up. Although he doesn't qualify him as the ideal signing, he does believe he could bring a very valuable dimension to the midfield.

He sees him as an absolute starter

Maldini has no doubts: If Enzo Fernández were to join Real Madrid, he would have a guaranteed spot in the starting eleven. He highlights his technical ability, his decision-making with the ball, and his game reading, qualities he considers superior to some of the current profiles at Madrid, especially the French midfielder, whom he sees as more limited in terms of creation.

However, he acknowledges a possible weak point: his tendency to push forward offensively could leave gaps in the midfield if he is assigned a pure pivot role. Even so, under the direction of Xabi Alonso, who knows the role well and could tactically shape him, Enzo could reach an even more complete version.

Step by step

Despite the enthusiasm, the operation is far from being finalized. The transfer cost would be the major obstacle: figures around 200 million euros are being discussed, an amount that Real Madrid doesn't consider paying under any circumstances. As of today, the interest is more a signal of attention than a real negotiation.

Nevertheless, having the endorsement of voices like Maldini gives rise to debate. Madrid continues to closely monitor market movements, and although the signing of Enzo seems unlikely in the short term, his name could remain on the white radar if conditions change.
