Maldini shakes up social media with his post about Pedri: 'I'm not going...'

The international soccer expert sparks a wave of comments with his latest post

The September international break is coming to an end. Most national teams have already played, or are about to play, the second of the two fixtures scheduled for the first interruption of the clubs' competitive rhythm. One of the most outstanding national teams during these weeks has been the squad coached by Luis de la Fuente.

The Spanish national team's group has, in fact, come through its matches against Bulgaria and Türkiye with good feelings and performance, achieving big wins in both. The match played against Arda Güler's compatriots, one of the few positive stories from Vincenzo Montella's players' performance, ended with a resounding 0-6.

This thrashing by the Spanish players had multiple protagonists: one of the most outstanding was Mikel Merino, who completed a hat-trick, thus consolidating his role as the "surprise" striker invented by Arteta. Arsenal's coach had already applied that unexpected tactical solution during last season's European quarterfinals against Real Madrid.

Another player who showed good performance in that match against the European squad is Pedri, who scored a brace. The FC Barcelona midfielder has become one of the creative references in Hansi Flick's squad: the team coached by the German feels his absence greatly.

He has it surprisingly clear

The key role of the Canary Islands footballer, both in his club and in the national team, has prompted a new comment from Julio Maldonado. The journalist known as "Maldini," shortly after one of the goals scored by the Barça midfielder, wrote a striking comment on social media: "I'm not going to insist on Pedri anymore. It's not necessary".

With those words, Julio Maldonado once again surrendered to the quality of the "8" of the Barça squad. While it is true that the Tenerife midfielder was one of the most outstanding in Türkiye-Spain, "Maldini" did not make other individual comments: he always shared thoughts about the national team as a group.

The striking fascination "Maldini" has with Pedri was shown once again in Türkiye-Spain. In addition to that comment in which he stated that "I'm not going to insist anymore", the analyst and commentator left a very forceful compliment barely an hour earlier, during the match. "Pedri is the best midfielder in the world and no one will move me from that", he also declared on his official X profile.

Both comments about Pedri in Spain's last match in September have triggered a flood of replies and reactions. Some showed absolute agreement with his words, while other responses reminded him of predictions he had made in the past that did not end up coming true.
