Manolo Lama's opinion on Xabi Alonso's arrival at Madrid: 'He's going to score...'

The well-known journalist from 'Cadena COPE' reacted to Xabi Alonso's first words

This past Monday, Real Madrid officially announced the presentation of Xabi Alonso as the new head coach of the first team. The coach from Tolosa is taking over from Carlo Ancelotti, who just a few hours later gave his first press conference as Brazil's new manager.

Xabi Alonso returns to Real Madrid after his successful spell in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, with whom he won an unbeaten Bundesliga title. Now he's taking command of the white team from day one, since in June he'll lead the team in the Club World Cup, the last trophy at stake this season.

During his presentation, Xabi Alonso delivered his first words as Real Madrid's coach, in which he showed great ambition. He also expressed his conviction that they'll be able to "achieve important things" and, above all, that "the people" will say "that's my Real Madrid", as a sign that they're proud of the team.

Manolo Lama's opinion after listening to Xabi Alonso

Manolo Lama, a well-known journalist from "Cadena COPE", spoke about Xabi Alonso's words in his first press conference. "For young people, because veterans already know him, it must be explained that Xabi Alonso is a guy who's going to make very few mistakes in a press conference", he began.

"He's not going to give big headlines either. What surprised me most about Xabi Alonso is that he's a guy who finds it hard to express himself, but today he looked very happy", Manolo Lama explained.

"There were several moments when he smiled, there were moments when he even tried to make a joking gesture. I think it's one of the happiest days since he started in this soccer business", the journalist concluded.

Over time, Madridists and the press will gradually get used to Xabi Alonso's press conferences. Certainly, the coach from Tolosa appeared quite confident in his first press conference. The packed press room at Valdebebas didn't cause any fear for the new Real Madrid coach.
