Real Madrid Confidencial Marco Asensio Reveals Why He Left Real Madrid and If He Regrets His Decision
The Spanish player, who isn't going through his best sporting moment, spoke about his departure from Real Madrid.

Marco Asensio left Real Madrid in June 2023 after failing to reach an agreement on his renewal. Although there was much speculation about his future, he finally joined Paris Saint-Germain.
However, his time in the French capital has been marked by various disappointments, which led him last month to seek a loan.
Aston Villa, a team managed by Unai Emery, trusted him and Marco Asensio accepted the offer.
Marco Asensio's Words After Joining Aston Villa
Just a few weeks ago, his signing with Aston Villa was confirmed, and he spoke about this new chapter in statements to the Mirror.
"The coach (Luis Enrique) just felt he had to make other decisions for the players. He chose them. It happened quite often during the season, I decided I needed to play and wanted a change", the forward commented.
"I've known Unai (Emery) for years. I know how he plays. His style matches my football and he will know how to get the best out of me", highlighted Marco Asensio.
Additionally, the Balearic confirmed that Aston Villa had been after his signing for some time, but it hadn't been possible until now.
"I could have come here a year ago. I've kept it in mind since then because I know it's a winning team and the plan is to aim high and win titles. (...) I've always wanted to play in the Premier League", he explained.
Meanwhile, Marco Asensio emphasized that he doesn't believe his move to Aston Villa from Paris Saint-Germain is a step back. "This is not a step back. It's a great challenge for me", he stated.
About His Departure from Real Madrid
Finally, Marco Asensio also took time to recall his time at Real Madrid. Additionally, the forward also spoke about his departure from the Madrid club.
"When I left Real Madrid, I felt that (PSG) was the next step in my career, where I could feel more comfortable and develop more. So when we talked, he saw me as a number 10. That was important for me", he commented.
