Mario Martín's Confession Hours before Facing Real Madrid for the First Time
Mario Martín will face his former team tonight, his old teammates, and he has spoken
Real Madrid faces Real Valladolid tonight in Pucela and it will be a night of reunions. Mario Martín will go up against his former club and his former teammates.
The Real Madrid youth academy graduate has given an interview to Marca before the game. In it, he talked about his departure from Chamartín.
“It is never easy to leave Real Madrid. In the end, it is the best club in the world, everyone wants to go there, but there are also other things. I had to look for what was best for me,” replied the Sonseca native about his time at Real Madrid.
The former Real Madrid academy player was coached by Raúl at Real Madrid and by Carlo Ancelotti himself in the first team.
He didn't want to forget about the two of them, and he stated the following. “I have a lot to thank Ancelotti's entire coaching staff for, they treated me like one of their own. Raúl and he are my footballing fathers.”
Casemiro, his great role model
With Casemiro as the main role model to look up to, Mario Martín decided to go to Valladolid at the beginning of this very season. In fact, he debuted with Pucela in the first-leg match between Real Madrid and Valladolid, at Santiago Bernabéu. The Whites won 3-0, but they struggled to secure the 3 points at home.
Now, the situation is different and Mario Martín has settled into the team. Being a very technical midfielder, he is also an intense player, who goes into duels with a lot of vigor. He is also versatile and has great ball distribution despite being a defensive midfielder.
Clash of contrasts at José Zorrilla
It was difficult for him to secure a spot in Real Madrid's midfield, due to the number of midfielders Carlo Ancelotti has in his ranks. Additionally, it is known that the Italian is not a coach who deals with the youngest players and youth academy graduates. So it was better for Mario to leave and gain experience elsewhere.
Now, the clash between the two is set. Mario Martín's Valladolid will seek to win to climb out of the bottom and breathe easier in the standings.
Although in front, Real Madrid is the heavy favorite. Ancelotti's team will seek 3 vital points at José Zorrilla to maintain the lead in LaLiga EA Sports.
