Mastantuono announces the number he wants to wear at Real Madrid: 'Not yet...'

The Argentine has admitted which number he likes the most

Franco Mastantuono still can't be officially presented with Real Madrid due to his age. On August 14, when he turns 18, he'll be able to do so, although he's already dropping some hints. At least about the jersey number he'd like to wear for the white team in his first season.

There are still a few days left before he joins the rest of his teammates for training in Valdebebas. Mastantuono will be in Madrid as early as next weekend. This has sparked the curiosity of several media outlets, such as ESPN.

At the airport, he was intercepted and asked about the jersey number he'll use at Real Madrid. "I don't know yet," he replied, leaving the question open until his presentation. However, he did surprise everyone by stating that he'd like to wear number 10 in his first season.

Mastantuono has already chosen a number, although he's aware that it's going to be impossible, at least for now. "Mbappé has it, he has every right," the Argentine pointed out. So he'll have to choose one of the numbers that are still available, and there aren't many options left.

The options Mastantuono has to choose a jersey number at Real Madrid

Modric's departure meant that Mbappé became the new number 10 at Real Madrid. Right now, number 9 is the one that's available, although not for long. Everything suggests that Endrick or Gonzalo will inherit it, with the Brazilian having the edge.

If that happens, 16 and 25 would be the only two numbers left unassigned. One of the two would go to Mastantuono, while the other would have to be for Gonzalo, if he stays. There are no more available in Real Madrid's first team.

However, all of this could change if Rodrygo, Ceballos, or Mendy end up leaving. Right now, the Brazilian is the one most likely to pack his bags. Liverpool seems willing to make a final attempt to secure his services.
