Real Madrid has decided not to renew Luka Modric's contract and will let him leave this summer. His contract is set to expire on June 30, and they're not going to bet on his continuity for next season. However, he will be at the Club World Cup after a 15-day extension (15 días).

Alarm bells have gone off because a tragedy could push him to stay for one more year. If Modric suffers a serious injury during the Club World Cup, everything could change. The club has made a decision in case that scenario happens with the Croatian's physical condition.

Real Madrid would offer him a contract renewal, so as not to leave Modric stranded in the event of a serious mishap. The only thing that seems clear is that his purpose is to find a destination that guarantees him playing time. He wants to reach the 2026 World Cup in top condition, keeping continuity on the field. Several clubs have been linked to him, such as Getafe, Sevilla, or Glasgow Rangers.

It seemed that Milan was the strongest option, although the Rossoneri won't play in Europe next season. Nothing has been announced, and it won't happen until after the Club World Cup. However, right now there are doubts that it will be finalized.
