Modric about to sign with his new team for over €3M, farewell after the World Cup

The Croatian footballer has reached an agreement with Milan on a one-year contract and a salary of 3.5 million

Luka Modric is very close to closing a new chapter in his career. The Croatian midfielder, a Real Madrid legend, has an almost complete agreement with AC Milan.

According to Matteo Moretto, the veteran player will sign with the Italian side for a base salary of €3.5 million. That amount will be increased by various performance bonuses.

At 39 years old, Modric still has plenty of energy. However, he is no longer in Xabi Alonso's main plans. The arrival of young players like Bellingham or Camavinga has relegated his role to the rotation.

Destination: Milan

Milan is betting on his experience. The Rossoneri club wants to strengthen the midfield with leadership and quality. Modric fits that profile perfectly.

The agreement between the parties is very advanced. Only the signature is missing to make it official. If everything goes as planned, it will be announced in the coming days.

Modric would arrive as a free agent, after finishing his contract with Real Madrid this summer.

Thinking about the 2026 World Cup

This decision is not only for sporting reasons. Modric has one last major goal in mind: to play in the 2026 World Cup.

The tournament will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. It will be his sixth World Cup and, most likely, his last.

Sources close to the player indicate that this would be the ideal moment to end his professional career. Modric would retire after the World Cup, at 41 years old.

Signing for Milan would guarantee him minutes, prominence, and competitive rhythm ahead of that event.

Farewell from Real Madrid

After more than a decade as a Madridist, Modric is saying goodbye to Santiago Bernabéu. He has won everything with the white club: Champions Leagues, leagues, cups, and a Ballon d'Or.

He leaves as a legend. As one of the best midfielders in the club's history. His farewell will be emotional, although his departure has been expected for weeks.

Milan will be his last destination in Europe. The 2026 World Cup will be his final chapter as a footballer.

Modric keeps dreaming. He is about to write the last chapter of his brilliant career.
