Neither Arabia nor United States: this European team is close to signing Lucas Vázquez

The Galician footballer will leave Real Madrid as a free agent after the Club World Cup

One of the players who is part of the first team during this Club World Cup is preparing to play his last competition as a Madridist: right-back Lucas Vázquez. This Galician player, given his modest performance during the last soccer season, will not continue for next season.

The addition of Trent Alexander-Arnold, a signing on a free transfer from Liverpool, has ultimately put him on the exit ramp from Santiago Bernabéu locker room. However, that farewell won't become official until Madrid's participation in the current Club World Cup ends... which doesn't prevent the emergence of the first offers for a footballer who can still contribute a lot of soccer to his next team.

The most veteran players, especially those coming from the European soccer elite, usually attract the attention of Saudi Arabia or the United States. The Saudi Pro League and MLS have become pools of a lot of footballing talent, but Lucas Vázquez would have an offer on the table that would keep him in Europe.

If he wishes to keep competing at the highest and most demanding level of world soccer, Madrid's current '17' should pay attention to Fenerbahçe's approach. Arda Güler's former team, according to information published by Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, would have inquired about the terms of the Spanish player's signing.

He has many options

There's still no response to that inquiry from the team now coached by José Mourinho. If he joins the Turkish side, Lucas Vázquez would finally be under the tactical direction of the legendary Portuguese coach, an opportunity he couldn't take advantage of during the Portuguese's time as a Madridist.

The figure of Lucas Vázquez, however, is not unfamiliar to José Mourinho. In fact, the right-back himself was then one of the most advanced pupils of La Fábrica, featuring in many reports that reached the first team's coach. That meeting that never happened at Real Madrid could now take place in Türkiye, under the watchful eye of Fenerbahçe's supporters.

This approach from the squad based in Istanbul is a much more attractive option for a player who would have the opportunity to keep competing in Europe to maintain his current level. There is still no news regarding offers sent by other environments such as Saudi Arabia or the American league.

That's why the option of joining the squad coached by José Mourinho, once his departure as a free agent from Real Madrid is finalized, seems the best option for Lucas Vázquez. While he decides on his future, the Galician right-back will have to give his all one last time defending the Merengue crest.
