Neither Joan García nor Lunin: Real Madrid is considering two goalkeepers to succeed Courtois

Chevalier and Donnarumma, two different profiles, are under the spotlight of the white sporting management for the white goal

Real Madrid is already working on the future of their goal. With Thibaut Courtois as the undisputed starter, the sports management is considering possible medium-term alternatives. They have two names on the table.

Neither Joan García, from Espanyol, nor Andriy Lunin seem to be the options the club is considering. Instead, Lucas Chevalier and Gianluigi Donnarumma are the goalkeepers who are liked at Bernabéu.

Chevalier, young and with great potential

Lucas Chevalier, Lille's goalkeeper, is one of the favorites. At 23 years old, he stands out for his footwork, reflexes, and reliability under the posts. He is also very effective in one-on-one situations.

He has a contract until 2027, but his future is uncertain. If he doesn't renew, the French club could let him leave to cash in. His current value, according to Transfermarkt, is 30 million euros.

Madrid has been following him for months. They see him as a possible heir for when Courtois steps aside. In addition, his youth makes him a long-term bet.

Donnarumma raises doubts at PSG

The other name on the club's agenda is Gianluigi Donnarumma. The current Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper has left the door open to a possible departure.

"Will I stay? I don't know, we'll see", said the Italian after being asked about his future. The 26-year-old goalkeeper has a contract until 2026, but his words have set off the alarm in Paris.

At Real Madrid, they don't overlook his quality or his experience in high-level matches. They also value his physique, leadership, and competitive mentality.

Donnarumma is a more expensive option, but also more proven. If he decides to leave PSG, the club could enter the bidding.

Decision in the club's hands

With Lunin not guaranteed to stay, and the need to properly cover the goal in a future without Courtois, Real Madrid is making a move.

Chevalier and Donnarumma, two different profiles, are under the sports management's scrutiny. The change in the goal is already underway. The chosen ones could be closer than it seems.
