From being the new Kroos to possibly leaving Real Madrid this summer, a very likely sale

The president has revealed that he was convinced Xabi would become the First Team coach when he took charge of Infantil A

Real Madrid has officially presented Xabi Alonso as the new head coach of the first team. The coach from Tolosa signs until June 2028 and replaces Carlo Ancelotti, who left the position after the last matchday of La Liga.

The Italian coach said goodbye after a modest season, without major titles, except for the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, the new name for the former Club World Cup.

During the presentation event, the club president, Florentino Pérez, dedicated some emotional and meaningful words to Xabi.

"Your destiny was written since 2018"

Florentino recalled Xabi's beginnings as a coach in the youth academy. "Today you're coming back home. We all knew what your destiny would be when you sat down in 2018 to coach Infantil A," he stated.

For the president, from that moment it was already clear that Xabi would end up on the first team's bench.

His steps have proved it. The coach from Gipuzkoa began his journey in Valdebebas, grew in Real Sociedad's reserve team, and excelled in Germany.

"You've achieved something that's already part of German soccer history: winning the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen," Florentino highlighted.

Xabi Alonso had a historic season at Leverkusen, winning the league without losing a single match.

New leader of the white bench

Florentino described Alonso as one of the great figures in current soccer.

"This path makes you one of the great figures in soccer and one of the best coaches in the world," he added.

The club fully trusts its new coach, both for his knowledge of the club and for his tactical ability and leadership.

Xabi will start working as head coach of the first team on June 1. His first challenge will be to prepare Real Madrid for the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held this summer.

He arrives with a contract until 2028 and with the challenge of starting a new era of success.

Florentino Pérez has backed Xabi Alonso since his first day as coach of Infantil A. Now, that destiny is fulfilled: Xabi returns home to lead Real Madrid's future.
