The 'new Modric' Real Madrid has its eye on: he plays in the Premier League

Xabi Alonso would be delighted with his signing, but there's a major problem

If last summer it was Kroos who retired, this time it's Modric who's packed his bags. Real Madrid has been left without much talent in midfield over the past two years. That's why they're looking for a possible replacement to try not to suffer so much from those losses.

They seem to have set their sights on a player currently playing in the Premier League as a good candidate. We're referring to Alexis Mac Allister, for whom Xabi Alonso keeps insisting. He wants Real Madrid to go after his signing, as Defensa Central has learned from sources close to the matter.

The Basque believes the Argentine midfielder is the player who can best adapt to that position. He has experience, the ability to organize play, and talent when it comes to attacking. That's why he has once again insisted to the board that they go after his signing.

Although it doesn't seem like they're going to pay much attention to him, since the front office considers the squad to be complete. Only if Rodyrgo leaves could they move to reinforce the midfield during the remainder of the summer. Right now, there are few chances the Brazilian will pack his bags.

An operation that is practically impossible

As we've already mentioned, it seems unlikely that Real Madrid will go to the market. Right now, they're not reconsidering it, so Xabi Alonso assumes no midfielder will arrive. But the case of Mac Allister would be even more difficult still.

Liverpool doesn't want to negotiate with Real Madrid after the latest precedents in the market. They've already lost Trent for free this summer and see Konaté following in his footsteps next. Two very tough losses for them, with two footballers heading to Bernabéu.

In the Argentine's case, they would indeed receive a good transfer fee, but even so, they want to avoid it. Slot considers him an important piece in its plans and he wouldn't be for sale. So not even a big offer from Real Madrid seems likely to convince them.
