Nico Williams to Barça, Maldini gives his opinion on what's going to happen: 'For me...'

The interesting statements with which Maldini has spoken about the possible signing of Nico by Barcelona

Last summer was full of speculation from the culés about the signing of Nico Williams. The young Athletic Club star, after his great performance at the Euro Cup, was Barcelona's preferred target to strengthen its squad. However, as was to be expected, Barcelona didn't manage to complete this deal due to the player's decision not to become a culé.

Despite this rejection, Nico Williams has resurfaced on Barcelona's radar for this transfer window. While Real Madrid has shown interest in the young left winger, Nico has once again moved closer to Barcelona. In response, Maldini gave his opinion on this possible transfer: "For me, it would be a great signing and I think it would qualitatively improve Barça a lot."

With these words, Maldini made it clear that Nico's transfer to Barcelona during this summer window is something he likes. Still, given Barcelona's financial problems and Real Madrid's interest, Nico Williams's future hasn't been determined.

Maldini's position on Nico Williams

Having been part of Athletic Club since 2021, Nico Williams has progressed to become one of the club's stars. By winning the Copa del Rey last season, Nico managed to show his worth on multiple occasions. With outstanding speed and great dribbling ability, Nico is one of the best players in all of Spain.

At just 22 years old, Barcelona hasn't forgotten its failure to sign Nico last summer. Despite having been embarrassed in front of all of Europe, Barcelona is looking to try again for the left winger this summer.

Although Maldini has made it clear that this signing excites him, the reality is that Nico would waste his talent at Barcelona. With the opportunity to be part of Real Madrid, Nico has to make the most important decision of his career.

Barcelona's opportunities

Even though he believes Barcelona is capable of signing Nico Williams, nothing could be further from the truth. With Barcelona keeping its severe financial crisis and having a reputation for destroying talent, this is not a good option for the young Nico Williams.
