Not Seen on Television: the Funny Gesture of Rüdiger to a Barça Fan
The German player celebrated his victory in the Intercontinental Cup
Real Madrid has left Doha with another title under their belt. At the hands of the white club, Pachuca's defeat in the Intercontinental Cup extends the records achieved by the white club in the 21st century. Carlo Ancelotti is already a Real Madrid legend: he's the most successful coach in the team's history.
As expected, the players celebrated the achievement of the second of the seven titles that they hope to win this season. The moments of happiness on the field at the Lusail stadium came quickly and even left some very striking anecdotes.
One of the most notable was Antonio Rüdiger. The German '22' stood out, following his colourful personality, in the celebrations after lifting the fourth Intercontinental Cup to Qatar's sky. During a walk across the field, the Berlin defender noticed a fan wearing an FC Barcelona jersey in the rows closest to him.
Without wanting to create controversy and to show who had won that night, Rüdiger pointed at him as if pointing, very surprised, at something that shouldn't be there. The laughter of Madrid's defender revealed that he had taken the presence of that Barça jersey very well at the moment of Real Madrid's celebration.
Normally
Especially since the fan, wearing Dani Olmo's jersey, was trying to attract the attention of the nearby players by making a '4' with the fingers of his hand. The rivalry between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona has intensified for some time now, especially off the field.
The outbreak of the 'Negreira case' has been one of the spurs in the distancing between the two biggest rivals in Spanish soccer. The events that occurred this season, with Hansi Flick in charge of a somewhat more competitive Barça team, exacerbate the differences between the Madrid club and the Catalan team.
Whatever the case, Real Madrid are already looking ahead to the next league match: it is a key encounter to decide the league leadership. Because a forced victory against Sevilla would put the white team in first position... provided that FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid draw in the match at the Montjuïc stadium.
One of the most important players in the team for some time now is Antonio Rüdiger himself. Although he didn't arrive with many expectations of being a starter, he is proving to be an elite player and to be in excellent physical condition. He has rarely been injured since he arrived at Santiago Bernabéu, earning the sympathy and affection of all Real Madrid fans.
