Official drama: Real Madrid fears the worst 3 days before El Clásico, CTA strikes back
The referee appointments for matchday 35 of LaLiga are not liked at all in Valdebebas
There are only three days left for El Clásico and while the clubs involved in that match that paralyzes the soccer world keep moving forward with their sports preparation, new points of debate arise. The latest is due to the referee appointments made by the Technical Committee of Referees for the match at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium on Sunday, May 11.
The body chaired by Luis Medina Cantalejo has revealed that Alejandro José Hernández Hernández will be in charge of administering justice from the field, acting as the main referee of the contest. This choice for such an important match for the course of the current league season sparks a very clear reaction in Real Madrid.

The blunders committed by Hernández Hernández during some matches refereeing Real Madrid haven't been forgotten in the Valdebebas offices. Nor have they been forgotten by the Madrid fans, who still remember the two penalties on Varane not called during the Clásico at Spotify Camp Nou in the 19/20 season. One of them was a clear stomp by Clément Lenglet on the French defender's thigh that left a mark but wasn't considered punishable.
The last match that Hernández Hernández refereed for FC Barcelona ended in a four-all draw. His field direction of the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals between Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona was followed by his intervention in the Real Betis-Real Madrid. That match held at Benito Villamarín went Betis's way and ended with a visibly upset and angry Vinícius due to the decisions made by the Canarian referee.
Records impossible to forget
The CTA has determined that Juan Martínez Munuera will be the VAR referee in charge of guiding El Clásico next Sunday, May 11. That appointment doesn't generate special optimism among the white supporters, who remember his performance in the controversial visit of Real Madrid to the Estadio de Vallecas. The work of the Valencian referee caused much discontent in the club, which pointed out his performance as "controversial refereeing" in the official match report.
"A match that could have been won if Martínez Munuera had called the penalty of Pathe Ciss on Güler in the 42nd minute and Mumin on Vini Jr. in the 75th minute", wrote Real Madrid on a page that is still active and available for consultation. These aren't the only signs of discontent from the white team with a referee who will be in the VAR for El Clásico in Montjuïc.

During last season, after the visit to El Sadar against Osasuna, Real Madrid denounced the "negligent drafting of the referee's report" by Martínez Munuera. The referee had omitted in his account of the match the constant insults received by Vinícius from a certain section of the Osasuna stands... who also received a yellow card for his reaction to those insults.
The referee appointment of Hernández Hernández and Martínez Munuera for El Clásico doesn't please Real Madrid or the Madrid fans. Everyone in the white club knows that it's a vital match for the future of the current league season, so they must detach themselves from this new controversy... and aim to achieve a victory that would further complicate the culés' chances of winning LaLiga this season.
