Onda Cero Announces Madrid's Plan for the Winter Market after the Supercopa

Despite the defeat in Saudi Arabia, the plan of the Madrid executives wouldn't have changed

Real Madrid is in a more than uncomfortable situation. The good feelings accumulated during December and the first games of January 2025 have vanished in an instant due to the thrashing suffered against Barcelona. The defeat in the Spanish Supercopa final could mark a turning point in Carlo Ancelotti's continuity.

It could also have affected the plans of the board led by Florentino Pérez for the men's first team. It's not the first time that certain concerns have been raised by the coaching staff regarding the players present and available in Bernabéu changing room. Those claims, at least until now, have been ignored with the reminder that transfers are postponed until the summer market.

The information published in the last few hours, right after a defeat that has shaken all of Madrid, maintains the same determination in the Valdebebas offices. According to journalist Alberto Pereiro, the Real Madrid bosses aren't willing to intervene in the winter market to strengthen the team coached by Carlo Ancelotti.

The message is clear: the Reggiolo coach must achieve the best possible results with the players he has at his disposal. The action plan of the white leadership, revealed by Onda Cero, delves into the existing gap between the Madrid coaching staff and the club's management.

Precarious balance

The demands for more transfers, especially to expand the roster of central defenders, have received a reply: the 'promotion' of Asencio to the first team. While it's true that the '35' from the Canary Islands seems ready to be a starter, Aurélien Tchouaméni's presence complicates things. The '14' from France is at the center of almost all the criticism for his competitive performance.

The midfielder from Ruan doesn't seem to have settled either as a pivot or as a central defender. Many within Madridismo are calling for Raúl Asencio to be immediately included in the starting eleven, leaving the '14' from France on the bench. Carlo Ancelotti, on the other hand, doesn't seem very convinced about giving more prominence to the player trained at La Fábrica.

The decision made in the Valdebebas offices is final: despite the setback in the Spanish Super Cup, they won't enter the winter market. Carlo Ancelotti will have to face the rest of the 24/25 season, the most demanding he has ever faced, without all the players he would like to have at his disposal. The refusal to add more players to Santiago Bernabéu locker room could influence the final results.

At least that's the thesis that emerges from the differences between the coaching staff and the board regarding possible transfers to strengthen the Madrid team. All the debates that seemed extinct have resumed... just when there are two days left for Real Madrid to play the fate of another competition, in this case the Copa del Rey, in a match at Santiago Bernabéu.
