Pedrerol Drops the Bombshell, Real Madrid Isn't Clear About Xabi Alonso: 'It Would Be...'
The veteran Catalan journalist offers a different version of the saga about Real Madrid's new coach
One of the major debates Real Madrid has pending for next summer, after the elimination against Arsenal, is effectively replacing Carlo Ancelotti. Everything points to the second stage of the Reggiolo coach being over, so from the Valdebebas offices, they would have taken the first steps to hire the successor. Most forecasts point to Xabi Alonso.
But not all the versions currently being handled would agree that hiring the Basque coach would be the best move for Real Madrid. Josep Pedrerol, in the latest episode of "El Chiringuito de Jugones," has revealed a possible change of opinion by Florentino Pérez regarding the succession of Carlo Ancelotti.

In this context, Pedrerol recalls that "at no time was there any doubt about Ancelotti nor has there been any doubt after losing to Arsenal", when the white president encouraged the coach. It is then that the host of "El Chiringuito de Jugones" reveals that "Florentino is not clear about Xabi Alonso" as the successor and direct replacement of the Reggiolo coach as manager.
"Messages are being sent to him from all sides" regarding that move. "Everyone Xabi Alonso... if Ancelotti wins the League and Cup", says Josep Pedrerol, "you can't fire him" because he would have achieved one of the two most important titles of the season, securing a national double.
We'll See What Happens
According to Josep Pedrerol, Florentino Pérez acknowledges that Real Madrid "played very poorly against Arsenal", the main cause of the white team's elimination in the Champions League quarter-finals. "But Madrid believes they can win the Cup and the League. If you win the League and the Copa del Rey against this Barça, let it be", concludes the host of "El Chiringuito de Jugones".
Josep Pedrerol hints that Real Madrid would not want to complicate things excessively if Carlo Ancelotti manages to reverse the complicated dynamics of the 24/25 season. Especially against a FC Barcelona whose encounters are counted by defeats... thrashings that have not helped improve the feelings regarding the performance of the Madrid team this season.

His statement is truly forceful: "it would be such a grave mistake by Florentino to fire Ancelotti winning the League and Cup. A mistake, because Ancelotti doesn't want tributes" as he has already pointed out in several press conferences. The desire of the Reggiolo coach is to remain linked to the white club even if he can't hold the position of manager as he is currently doing.
With that information revealed by Josep Pedrerol, Real Madrid would have serious doubts about hiring Xabi Alonso as manager. Especially if Carlo Ancelotti manages to defeat FC Barcelona both in LaLiga and in the Copa del Rey, very difficult competitions to win. Despite everything, the white leadership keeps the hope that the Italian strategist will emerge victorious from those matches.
