Pedrerol Reveals the Meeting Between 'France Football' and Florentino After the Major Controversy

What happened last October 2024 continues to be a topic of discussion

Real Madrid Has Registered Dozens of Controversies During the Current Season due to events that have occurred both inside and outside the stadiums. One of the most striking controversies is led by one of the leaders of the white team: Vinícius Jr. The verdeamarelo footballer, after an excellent progression to the top of world soccer, seems to be the chosen one to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

Even in the days leading up to that gala held in Paris, there was talk of the tough path that the Madridist '7' had to take to receive such an individual award. But hours before the event began, a leak occurred that radically changed the plans: Vinícius was not the chosen one to win this personal award.

The reaction of Real Madrid, to what they considered a lack of respect, was very clear: everyone who was prepared to travel canceled those trips immediately. Rodrigo Hernández's victory over Vinícius in the award organized by UEFA and France Football provoked all kinds of comments... especially for what seemed like a very 'clear' victory for the Real Madrid footballer.

The white club, not fond of dwelling on any kind of controversies, decided to move on quickly after Florentino Pérez's words at the General Assembly last December. But, months after that assessment by the white president, a notable meeting request has been received at the Valdebebas offices to address that issue.

We'll See What Happens

This was revealed by Josep Pedrerol on 'El Chiringuito de Jugones'. "France Football wants to talk to Florentino Pérez to try to clarify what happened and for Madrid, in case they win any award, to attend the gala next season". This information from the veteran Catalan journalist would imply a change in the tense relationship of the white team with that soccer award institution.

Despite that approach, Josep Pedrerol also seems to have access to the stance held at the Valdebebas offices. Because "in Madrid, they are clear that as long as Ceferin is involved in any way, it will be very difficult for Madrid to attend" the upcoming galas... regardless of that approach that France Football would try to make to calm the situation.

"If the rules change, if UEFA doesn't interfere with the Ballon d'Or, then it could be solved more easily", concludes Josep Pedrerol regarding this saga. Although those conversations have not taken place, "Florentino has already been informed that the magazine organizing the Ballon d'Or wants to talk to the president of Real Madrid".

The Ballon d'Or controversy now lives a new chapter with this approach made by France Football. The magazine originally organizing the individual award joined UEFA, starting in the 2024 edition, which would have caused that notable distancing from Real Madrid. It remains to be seen the reaction that emanates from the Valdebebas offices regarding this attempt to offer explanations.
