Petón's Reply to Dani Ceballos Shows the Truth, Neither Simeone nor He Surpasses It
The former player and former soccer agent, known for his strong Atlético sentiment, extends the controversy
One of the most notorious issues in Spanish soccer in recent hours is Diego Pablo Simeone's words. The Atlético coach spoke of "episodes like those that have existed for a hundred years, I don't know what surprises them." After the controversy of the game between Real Madrid and Celta de Vigo. Such an attack on the white club hasn't gone unnoticed.
While it's true that there hasn't been an institutional reply, several team members replied to the accusations from Atlético de Madrid's coach. The first to do so was Carlo Ancelotti, during the press conference held before the match against Las Palmas last Sunday. The Reggiolo coach hinted that Simeone has "thorns" that still "hurt" him in soccer terms.
The reference to the two Champions League finals lost against Madrid, the first of them with Ancelotti on the white bench, isn't the only one. Because Dani Ceballos, after completing an excellent game during the island team's visit to Santiago Bernabéu, focused on the same thing that the Italian strategist had pointed out.
"He hasn't gotten over the two finals he lost with Madrid," concluded the '19' from Utrera in his flash interview. Those harsh replies to Simeone's provocation have sparked all kinds of reactions among Atlético fans. One of the most illustrious, José Antonio Martín, better known as 'Petón', has decided to 'counterattack' after Ceballos's words about Lisbon 2014 and Milan 2016.
The reply to the reply
"The only team that scored a legal goal, which proves 'Cholo' right, was Atlético de Madrid. And Clattenburg tattooed the Champions there, so less nonsense and go studied". These words from 'Petón' about Ceballos's statements aren't the only ones, making a very serious accusation but without naming names.
"I have the feeling that they 'swiped' that Cup from me. Because the only legal goal was scored by Atlético de Madrid, 95 centimeters offside Sergio Ramos". Furthermore, José Antonio Martín urges Dani Ceballos to "use another argument, whichever you want except that one, because you're off track". The refereeing of the Milan 2016 final remains a thorny issue among Atlético de Madrid fans.
Even when Clattenburg himself admitted to having 'compensated' the red-and-white team with "a penalty that's 50/50. Torres was clearly ahead of Pepe, very clearly, and there was a foul. Was there really a foul? It's very subjective", commented the English referee in an interview in 2021.
The tattoos 'Petón' refers to are nothing more than a reminder from Clattenburg himself. The Consett referee experienced an unforgettable 2016, as he was chosen to officiate the FA Cup final, the Champions final, and the Euro 2016 final. Such a 'treble', practically impossible for any referee to achieve today, was an occasion the British referee wanted to immortalize on his skin.
