PSG already did it with Mbappé and now Benfica wants to repeat it with Real Madrid

For many years, Real Madrid worked hard to secure the signing of Kylian Mbappé. Coming close to finalizing the transfer on several occasions, PSG did everything possible to prevent Mbappé's departure last summer. One of the most striking actions PSG took was to present their new kit with Kylian Mbappé.

This is a decision Benfica has also made recently with Álvaro Carreras. With the left-back being one of Real Madrid's main targets, Benfica wanted to rule out Carreras's departure. Because of that, in their recent presentation of their kit for the next season, Benfica made Carreras the main figure.

This move doesn't cause concern at Real Madrid given the experience they already have. Having worked in recent weeks on Carreras's transfer, Madrid fully trusts they'll succeed in this signing just as they did with Mbappé.

Benfica's curious decision

Playing his first season with Benfica, Álvaro Carreras established himself as one of their most important players. Accumulating 4,385 minutes of play, Carreras's importance at the club is more than evident. Helping both in attack and defense, Álvaro Carreras proved to be a very versatile and, above all, very fast left-back.

Despite having been the main face of Benfica's new kit presentation, this doesn't really confirm his stay. Although his contract runs until 2029, his move to Real Madrid is still very close to being finalized.

Trying to do the same things PSG did with Mbappé in the past, Benfica will have the same outcome. At 22 years old, Álvaro Carreras has a great future ahead that Real Madrid aims to fully take advantage of starting next season.

Real Madrid's confidence

Despite the actions taken by Benfica, Real Madrid remains highly focused on signing Álvaro Carreras. Although Benfica's intentions to keep Carreras are clear, the reality is that the club can't compete against Real Madrid.
