Real Madrid canceled Vini's contract renewal immediately after speaking with his agents

Vinícius Junior's contract renewal was practically finalized. Only the official announcement was missing, but everything fell apart overnight. The reason: the Brazilian wants to earn the same as Mbappé.

From the footballer's camp, a clear request was made to the club. Vini believes he deserves a salary on par with the Frenchman, the new star at Real Madrid since last season. But the response from the offices at Bernabéu was firm: now is not the time.

The club stopped everything at once

Florentino Pérez and his team were surprised by the demand. Not only because of the financial amount, but also because of the timing. Vini has a contract until 2027, there is no urgency.

The club chose to freeze the renewal and wait. There will be no signing, no announcement, and no salary increase. At least for now.

Mbappé has changed everything

Kylian Mbappé's arrival has shifted the balance within the locker room. The Frenchman will earn more than anyone else, which is logical given his status and his multi-million signing. But that has triggered internal movements.

Vinícius has been important, he has delivered goals, titles, and key moments. However, his level has been inconsistent. In the big matches last season, he did not show up and the club has not forgotten that.

From the player's camp, they assure that Vini is calm. He is enjoying his vacation without stress. But in Madrid's offices, the tension is rising.

The Brazilian wants the financial recognition he believes he deserves. But the club believes that asking for the same as Mbappé, as of today, is out of place.

Real Madrid has not broken off negotiations, but they have frozen them. Everything will depend on Vinícius's performance next season.

If he returns to his best form, as in 2023/24, the club will sit down again. But if he still fails to make a difference in the big games, there will be no salary increase and a sale is possible.

Florentino is clear about it: nobody is above the club, not even Vinícius.
