Real Madrid communicates its decision to Alaba with one year left on his contract: 'We...

Alaba already knows Real Madrid's stance regarding his future at the club

Real Madrid has spoken, and it has done so clearly to avoid any confusion. David Alaba's future is in his hands. With one year remaining on his contract, the club has communicated to the Austrian that it will fully respect his decision.

In these kinds of matters, Real Madrid never pressures its footballers, because at the time they reached an agreement and it must be fulfilled. It's a different matter if they prefer the player to move to another team. It remains to be seen what the player's stance will be in the coming months when he returns to training with the group.

"We would like to free up your spot, but if you want to stay, we will respect your decision", is the message sent from the club. David Alaba's performance after recovering from his knee injury hasn't been good. It's noticeable that he's not in shape and hasn't played for a long time, and that's something that generates many doubts in the club.

Very grateful

Alaba is very happy in the city of Madrid and at Real Madrid. He has made history at the club, and although things haven't turned out as desired, he appreciates how he has been treated during this time. Especially in the tough moments, like during the recovery process from his knee injury.

The player is fully aware of his situation, but he still trusts himself a lot. He believes he can perform well at Real Madrid if given opportunities, although he knows it will be challenging at first. With the arrival of Dean Huijsen, it's logical that his minutes will be significantly reduced.

He must reflect

The best thing Alaba can do is think things through very well in the coming weeks. It doesn't seem like he will count much for Xabi Alonso. But you never know, everything will depend on his form and performance.

Another factor to consider is that Alaba turns 33 in June. He is already a veteran, and it's logical that his physical condition will decline in the coming weeks.
