Real Madrid Prepares 14 Million to Sign the New Carvajal, Neither Fortea nor Arnold
They have set their sights on the potential right-back for the coming years.
Real Madrid has identified the right-back position as one of the areas that need reinforcement. Carvajal's long-term injury has left only Lucas Vázquez as a player in that role. This has forced Fede Valverde to play in that position in high-stakes matches like the ones against Manchester City.
Looking ahead to the next season, Real Madrid wants to address this issue, also thinking about the future. Both Carvajal and Lucas are over 30 years old, and it's urgent to find Dani's replacement. Alexander Arnold is the one who will arrive, if nothing goes wrong, next summer.

Nothing Finalized
But they are still looking at possible alternatives in the market, especially due to the uncertainty with Fortea. One of the players they like the most is Sevilla's right-back, Juanlu Sánchez. The Sevillians haven't finalized his renewal and see a good opportunity at Bernabéu.
It's true that his release clause is set at 20 million, but the Merengues hope to close the deal for less. They are considering the possibility of presenting an offer of 14 "kilos" to secure his services. An option that Sevilla might accept rather than losing him for free.
Real Madrid Will Keep Waiting for Fortea but Have Plan B's
The truth is that at Real Madrid, they believe the future right-back should be Fortea. They see him as the player from La Fábrica in that position with the most progression and potential. But right now, there is uncertainty about what will happen with his future at the Merengue club.

They wanted to renew him, but for now, he has communicated his intention not to do so, postponing his decision. It will be this summer when he decides whether to continue at Real Madrid or seek new challenges. He has seen how he wasn't part of Raúl's plans at Castilla.
If he finally leaves, Real Madrid has already thought about possible Plan B's for the future. One we've already mentioned is Juanlu Sánchez and the other is Álex Jiménez. The former youth player is at Milan, but they still have a buy-back clause for this year and the next.
