Real Madrid Will Seek to Come Back Against Arsenal and Joselu Laments: 'I Wish...'

The forward regrets not being in Madrid supporting his former teammates, although he trusts in the comeback at Bernabéu

Real Madrid faces another magical night at Santiago Bernabéu this Wednesday. The white team needs to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Joselu Mato, a Galician forward currently playing for Al-Gharafa in Qatar, has given an interview to Mela Chércoles for Diario AS. From the MotoGP paddock in Losail, where he attended as a fan, Joselu talked about Madrid's current moment... and his absence.

The Hero of Bayern, From a Distance

Joselu was the main protagonist of one of the white club's most epic nights. In last year's Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, he scored two goals in three minutes.

He came onto the field in the 81st minute. In the 88th minute, he equalized the score. And in the 91st minute, already in stoppage time, he scored the winning goal that qualified Madrid for the final. A historic comeback. One of those feats that only Bernabéu understands.

During the interview, Mela Chércoles asked him:
“Are you aware of how important you would have been on Wednesday, even from the bench?”

Joselu smiled and replied sincerely: "Don't tell me that (laughs). These are special moments, moments you'll never forget. I wish the team all the luck in the world. I've lived moments like the one they'll experience on Wednesday, and I wish I could be there, but I'll be cheering from afar, like everyone else."

Total Faith in the Comeback

From Doha, Joselu firmly believes that Real Madrid can do it again. "I always believe in the comeback. If there's a club in the world capable of doing something like this, it's Real Madrid."

According to him, the key will be to score early. From there, as so many times before, Bernabéu will do the rest.

Joselu doesn't think about who will score the decisive goal. He just asks for Madrid to advance. "Whoever it is, let whoever score. The important thing is to reach the semi-finals," he concluded.

Even though he's far from the field, his fighting spirit will be present. Like that May 8 against Bayern, when Madrid came back in 3 minutes and made history again.
