Real Madrid's plan if Benfica doesn't release Carreras for the Club World Cup
The alternative that Real Madrid can implement to achieve the signing of Álvaro Carreras
One of Real Madrid's main objectives for this summer transfer window is signing Álvaro Carreras. The Benfica left-back, in just his first season with the club, managed to impress Real Madrid with his unique talent. Proving to be a better left-back than Mendy and Fran García, Real Madrid was hoping to finalize his signing soon.
With the intention of having Carreras for the Club World Cup, the transfer still can't be completed. This is because Benfica hasn't made the respective announcements regarding Carreras's departure and his signing by Real Madrid. Without this, Real Madrid wouldn't be able to have Carreras, whose arrival is highly desired, especially considering the World Cup.

Although Benfica is clearly trying to harm the player by leaving him without a team for the World Cup, Real Madrid has an alternative plan. Since they have everything needed to announce this signing, Real Madrid has no intention of breaking off relations.
Benfica's attitude
Known for being a club that's quite tough to negotiate with, Benfica hasn't disappointed with Carreras's transfer. The 22-year-old left-back, who played 4,385 min. (4,385 minutes) this season, is waiting for the announcement of his departure. However, Benfica has taken on a rather questionable attitude that has shown their intentions.
Unable to accept that Carreras will be a new Real Madrid player, Benfica is doing everything possible to harm the left-back. Although not being able to play in the World Cup would be a hard blow, Real Madrid is confident the announcement will happen soon.

With June 10 as the deadline to sign, Real Madrid has little time left to finally have Carreras. Despite the confidence that Benfica will regain common sense, Real Madrid will wait as long as necessary.
The plan for Álvaro Carreras
If Benfica manages to get their way, Madrid is quite clear that they'll wait until the end of the Club World Cup to sign Carreras. Considering the left-back a key player for their squad, Real Madrid will be patient with their former youth player.
