The reason that ruined Rodrygo's signing for PSG this summer
PSG couldn't have Rodrygo due to a peculiar situation, and it could have been a top-level signing
Rodrygo Goes is one of the names that remain in the board's discussion regarding possible departures from the club, having been a main character in this past summer transfer window. However, the Madrid player didn't leave the white institution, which was a surprise for more than one person who even eagerly desired it. The reasons for his staying, especially with a team like PSG that had him on its radar, were due to Bradley Barcola not leaving.
The young French footballer, despite being one of the most promising young players at the Parisian club, didn't fit into the plans with the team we saw last season. For that reason, they considered signing the Brazilian, who could bring them much more than his 23-year-old counterpart. However, this is what stopped a deal that seemed all but done.

Barcola prevented the signing
The young Frenchman delighted the soccer world just one season ago, when he was one of PSG's stars in a campaign that was overshadowed by the last one in which they won the Champions League. In this campaign, although he didn't have bad numbers, with 21 goals and 21 assists in almost 4,400 min. (4,000 min.), he doesn't seem to have had the impact some would think.
Meanwhile, Rodrygo has shown that he has the qualities to be a top-level player, but in his preferred position, which is the left wing. With Barcola's departure, Rodrygo's arrival was a very real possibility for PSG, which needs to keep its level. However, everything was prevented by not having the convincing offers that would be expected for a prospect like Barcola.
By not leaving the institution in the French capital, the player has had to stay there, intending to try to earn a spot in the starting eleven once again. Meanwhile, Rodrygo has it a bit more complicated, with little trust from Xabi and Madridists in the mix.

Maybe in winter
There is a possibility that in winter things could turn in favor of the white team and they could let the Brazilian go if PSG moves the right pieces. Even a swap between both players could be a discussion option for the Spanish club's board. Everything depends on what both clubs decide and if these players end up wanting to leave their clubs.
