The reason why Florentino won't sign a midfielder: he's already told Xabi

No midfielder on the market manages to convince Real Madrid's scouts

At Real Madrid, they are still studying the possible options available to strengthen the squad for the 2025/26 season. So far, Xabi Alonso's squad has added several valuable signings: Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Franco Mastantuono, and Álvaro Carreras. Therefore, it seems unlikely that the Madrid side will add any more players, although you never know.

However, as "Defensa Central" has learned, everything suggests that the signing of Álvaro Carreras could be the last of the summer. Now, the club will focus on departures, since there are players like Dani Ceballos who keep making certain gestures. There's also the "Rodrygo case": the player doesn't want to say goodbye to Bernabéu, but interesting offers are starting to arrive.

The arrival of a midfielder is starting to be ruled out

After the departures of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, everyone believed that Real Madrid would sign a pure playmaker. Franco Mastantuono has joined the midfield, although he isn't that type of player, no matter how much he may develop over time.

However, at the club, they are starting to see it as very difficult to sign a midfielder this summer. It's clear that they like players such as Rodri, Vitinha, or Enzo Fernández, but we're talking about pieces that aren't on the market. In addition, the club doesn't plan to spend a fortune unless there is a very significant departure.

"There are workers inside the club, who are with Xabi Alonso, and who believe a specific number five is needed. A player who builds play and gives a bit more ball distribution. All of this aside from what Dean Huijsen does from defense," said Antón Meana on "Cadena SER".

However, the journalist stated what had already been reported in recent days. "But Florentino Pérez has been very clear about it from the beginning. He doesn't want to pay 100 million euros for a midfielder who, in his opinion, isn't worth it," he explained.

Therefore, it will be necessary to wait for a major departure or see if Xabi Alonso is able to convert Arda Güler into a purer playmaker.
