The Reason Why Jesús Vallejo Won't Even Play in Copa Del Rey, Real Madrid's Warning
The central defender isn't on the list to face Deportiva Minera, and the reason has come out
It seemed that Jesús Vallejo had a good chance in the Copa del Rey game to get some playing time again. He played just 10 minutes against Alavés at Bernabéu and has since disappeared. However, against Deportiva Minera it did seem like the scenario was more favorable.
In the days leading up, there was speculation that Vallejo and Raúl Asencio were going to form the central defense pair. However, Jesús ultimately hasn't been included in the team which leaves him without options to play. It seems very unlikely that he will get playing time throughout the season.
The official version given is that he suffered some physical discomfort during a gym training session. Although the medical tests conducted didn't reveal any injury. Ultimately, he hasn't been included in the team, so he won't even travel to Cartagena to be on the bench.
However, there are some sources that suggest another version regarding Vallejo's absence against Deportiva Minera. From Real Madrid they're trying to find him a way out in January since they don't count on him. However, he doesn't want to leave, which is why he wouldn't even be on the list.
Vallejo's contract ends in a few months and It's already decided that he won't continue at Real Madrid
Jesús Vallejo's future isn't at Real Madrid and it's only a matter of resolving it now or in the summer. His contract ends on June 30, and the club is clear that they won't offer him a renewal. That's why they were trying to have everything sorted out during January and not wait any longer.
Among other things because Ancelotti has shown that he doesn't count on him and won't give him playing time. He had some against Alavés, in a match that was solved and became overly complicated in the final moments. Since then, the Italian coach hasn't considered him again.
In fact, when Militão got injured, even though Vallejo was on the bench, he wasn't the chosen option. He preferred to turn to a youth player like Raúl Asencio, making him debut ahead of him. With Tchouaméni's recovery, he's also an option before the player from Aragón.
