Szoboszlai's Regrettable Attack on Güler After Hungary-Türkiye

The Liverpool midfielder replied to their defeat against the Turkish team

One of the national team matches that the white technical staff hasn't lost sight of is the Hungary-Türkiye match. The quarter-final return leg between both teams left, as has been usual for some time now, Arda Güler as one of the standout footballers of the match.

Not only for scoring a goal, key to the victory by a landslide both in that return match and overall against Hungary. The Madrid attacking midfielder is emerging as one of the great stars of his national team at just 19 years old... while he waits for Carlo Ancelotti to trust him more regularly and give him a spot in the merengue tactical scheme.

Precisely his lack of minutes has been the argument used by a notable Hungarian player, Dominik Szoboszlai, as a response to the harsh defeat inflicted on his national team. The captain of the Hungarian team was overwhelmed by the situation and turned to social media, responding to a photograph in which he appeared alongside Arda Güler.

The Turkish '8', tired of the provocations and all the rumors spread about him, appears in that image telling Szoboszlai to be quiet. The Liverpool footballer, hours after the match, posted this response:  "1,088'". That figure corresponds to the minutes of play that Arda Güler has played so far in the 24/25 season.

Unnecessary Response

Far from being a mockery that bothers the Ottoman footballer, the comparison between the competitive situations of both footballers isn't as favorable to the red midfielder as it might seem. While it is true that Szoboszlai has played 2,887 minutes this season with his club, he only aspires to win one trophy today: the Premier League.

While it is true that the Merseyside team's season started off strong, both in England and Europe, they have recorded several competitive 'setbacks' in recent months. One of the most surprising was their defeat in the EFL Cup final against Newcastle. Their elimination from the FA Cup against the then-bottom team of the English second division is also not forgotten, nor their defeat in the Champions League round of 16 against PSG.

Arne Slot's pupils were left out of the top continental competition, whose league phase they had won completely undefeated, in the round of 16. The team coached by Luis Enrique 'stormed' Anfield Road and ended up winning on penalties against the red discipline in a historic image, as unexpected as it was real. Arda Güler, fortunately, finds himself in a much more comfortable competitive situation.

Because the white '15', despite having played just 1,088 minutes this season, has the opportunity to achieve the first treble in Real Madrid's history. Additionally, he would add his second Champions League to his record at just 19 years old, a trophy that Dominik Szoboszlai hasn't won in his entire football career.
