Pedrerol's Response on Vinícius, Florentino, and Saudi Arabia: 'One Billion and...'

The veteran journalist reacts to the Brazilian star's words about his future

Real Madrid has the renewal of Vinícius as one of the most important issues of recent seasons. The verdeamarelo footballer, a leader both on and off the field, is a key piece for the future and present sporting project. That's why the Valdebebas offices want to extend his stay in Santiago Bernabéu locker room as soon as possible.

This is especially true considering the multi-million-dollar offers that Saudi Arabia would be preparing to secure his football services for the next summer market of 2025. The executives led by Florentino Pérez know firsthand that they can't compete with those extremely high budgets, so his stay is in Vinícius's own hands.

The words of the carioca striker after the narrow victory against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium have provoked all kinds of reactions. Josep Pedrerol recalls that "Vinícius is advised, he 'sends the message'" about the negotiations for his renewal. "He even mentions the president here: 'let them talk to the president, let them call the president'".

In reply to that message from Vinícius Jr., the host of El Chiringuito de Jugones can't hide his surprise. "Does Vinícius say Saudi Arabia should call the president? They shouldn't call the president to bother him. One billion and bye-bye," the veteran journalist and panelist concludes.

Very Clear Differences

Those harsh words from Josep Pedrerol would reflect that "the president is clear: 'don't talk to me, one billion'". He also insists on the surprise caused by Vinícius's statements about his future, pointing out that "are they going to bother the president for this?". Josep Pedrerol understands that "the president doesn't waste time on these things; one billion, that's it".

That warning is "the message that they send me from the club," making it clear that Real Madrid doesn't want to know anything about possible negotiations with Saudi Arabia. The departure of Vinícius from Santiago Bernabéu locker room, at least while he has a valid contract with the white club, will only happen through the payment of his release clause.

That exit barrier is precisely the one billion euros Pedrerol refers to in this intervention on El Chiringuito de Jugones. Thus, the journalist reminds that Saudi Arabia shouldn't call "neither the president, nor Madrid, nor José Ángel, nor anyone" to solve Vinícius's future. The future of the transfer is very clear: "let those from Saudi Arabia put one billion there in the Bank of Spain..."

Real Madrid maintainsits firm stance on the saga created around Vinícius Jr. While they promote his renewal, the executives led by Florentino Pérez refuse to negotiate a departure for an amount less than his release clause. Otherwise, they will have to wait until the summer of 2027, if there is no renewal agreement, to try to secure his services definitively.
