Rodrygo isn't the only one: the player who hasn't played against Dortmund and could leave

Xabi Alonso left a game-changing footballer without any playing time in the match against Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund (3-2) at MetLife in New Jersey in a match that became more complicated than expected. Xabi Alonso's pupils were clearly superior to the Germans, but that didn't spare the Whites from some scares.

Real Madrid's footballers keep improving as the Club World Cup progresses. This means they're reaching an optimal level of form to face the reigning European champion in the semifinals. Xabi Alonso's next challenge will be to eliminate Luis Enrique, Dembélé, Vitinha, and company from the tournament.

However, the Club World Cup also coincides with the transfer market, and there's a Real Madrid footballer who is deeply involved in a major soap opera. Rodrygo Goes played again with the Whites, but he only spent a little more than five minutes on the field (a little over five minutes). In fact, whether by coincidence or not, he was on the field during the period when Dortmund scored its goals.

Rodrygo Goes is closer to leaving than staying

In recent days, there has been much talk about a possible offer from Arsenal for Rodrygo Goes. Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo's club, has also been mentioned in the past few hours as one of the interested clubs.

The only certain thing in this regard is that Rodrygo Goes hasn't managed to earn Xabi Alonso's trust. The Basque coach wants the Brazilian to stay on the team, but he doesn't see him as an option to start matches.

He also doesn't see him as a game-changer, since there are other players ahead of him in the rotation.

Meanwhile, Rodrygo Goes remains focused with Real Madrid, but it would be surprising if the footballer weren't considering other future options.

Xabi Alonso leaves out another piece

Another player who also didn't get any minutes is Brahim Díaz. The Spanish-Moroccan footballer, who is usually one of the footballers to come on in the second half, didn't play against Borussia Dortmund.

However, Brahim Díaz's situation isn't as concerning as Rodrygo's, although the Andalusian footballer also has offers. The striker has fully accepted his role at Real Madrid, but he is clear that he'd like to play more regularly.
