Sánchez Martínez's scandal: We'd already seen it, this is the third time it's happened

This isn't the first time that three goals have been disallowed for Real Madrid in a single LaLiga match

Real Madrid secured the top spot after defeating RCD Mallorca 2-1 at Santiago Bernabéu, but the match was overshadowed by referee Sánchez Martínez's performance. In fact, Xabi Alonso approached the referee directly at the final whistle, visibly upset by the decisions. The referee disallowed up to three goals for the white team: two for Kylian Mbappé and one for Arda Güler.

The match began with a determined RCD Mallorca that took the lead with a goal from Vedat Muriqi. However, Real Madrid came from behind before halftime with goals from Arda Güler and Vinícius in the 37th and 38th minutes. Additionally, Kylian Mbappé could have scored on several occasions, but his goals were taken off the scoreboard for offside.

The second half was filled with controversial refereeing decisions, with Sánchez Martínez disallowing another goal for a handball by Arda Güler. Xabi Alonso, known for his composure, couldn't contain his frustration and, according to Jose Padilla, kept a face-to-face with the referee after the match, demanding explanations.

Xabi Alonso prefers to avoid controversy

In the press conference, Xabi Alonso chose to be cautious, highlighting his team's effort: "We've shown character and quality to come from behind."

However, his anger was evident on the field, where he was also seen giving constant instructions. The coach trusts players like Tchouaméni, Mbappé, and the young Franco Mastantuono, who showed flashes of quality.

This is not the first time something like this has happened

We aren't used to seeing three goals disallowed against the same team in a match. However, if we look at the data, this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

According to 'X' user @YasujiroOficial, "This is the third time in La Liga history that VAR has disallowed 3 goals for the same team in a match. Guess who had them disallowed on the other two occasions."

"That's it. No further questions, Your Honor", the user concluded in the tweet. Additionally, in the comments 'Yasujiro' talks about the other two matches in which this also happened.

The first was against Elche CF a few years ago, but the second was last season against UD Las Palmas at Bernabéu.
