Simeone's Response for the Derby Against Real Madrid: 'we...'

Simeone speaks before the Champions League and his statements about the classic are surprising

Atlético de Madrid has to face its nemesis in the most important club competition. Real Madrid, for the umpteenth time, will be the team they have to overcome to try to advance to the quarterfinals. For this, the coach of the colchonero team, Cholo Simeone, already has this match very much in mind.

It can be perfectly seen how there is respect for a rival like this, considering that it is their favorite competition by his words.  "Have we surpassed Real Madrid in La Liga? The Champions is a different competition," were the statements of the Argentine coach. This is a clear demonstration that the rival must be respected, especially when it comes to Real Madrid.

However, many Madridists consider this just a smokescreen and believe he comes out somewhat confident. But the only thing we can say is that his statements are strong and very reasonable.

Not the Same

For the white team, the Champions League is a completely different competition from the local ones. This has been seen on several occasions over the last decade, where they have managed to win six of the last ten. Moreover, they are currently the reigning champions of the competition after a phenomenal last season.

Underestimating Real Madrid, even for the teams that have troubled them in recent years, is foolish, especially in the Champions. Therefore, Simeone prefers to navigate with a much friendlier flag to avoid making the same mistakes.

The past has left Atlético de Madrid deeply affected against a merengue team that has beaten them in two finals and eliminated them several times. Therefore, now they want to proceed much more calmly with the intention of not losing focus. Moreover, they have to play a perfect match to take a positive result back to their stadium.

In Madrid, They Don't Believe It

In the white team and, above all, on social media, they know perfectly well that these words are to try to take a weight off their shoulders. Nonetheless, even with this, Real Madrid will go out to win and seek qualification to the quarters.
