The first step Real Madrid must take to close Rodri's signing

The operation to achieve Rodri's transfer requires an important step from Real Madrid

Xabi Alonso remains fully determined to carry out the signing of Rodri to strengthen the midfield. Despite the talented players the club has, Rodri is seen as the leader needed for the midfield. According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid first needs to make a multi-million sale to achieve this transfer.

As an extremely important player for Manchester City, Rodri wouldn't leave for an affordable price. A minimum of €100 million is the amount Real Madrid would have to pay to complete this transfer. This figure could drop to between €60 million and €80 million ($65 million–$87 million) if the signing takes place next summer.

Regardless of which summer is chosen, Real Madrid needs to sell in order to sign Rodri. Given his reputation in the Premier League, Rodrygo appears to be this important sale. The Brazilian winger, after the Club World Cup, is no longer in Xabi Alonso's plans.

The plan for Rodri's transfer

At 29 years old, Rodri is one of the best midfielders in the world. His level at Manchester City has led the club to achieve major titles for years. However, unfortunately for City, the player suffered a serious injury that kept him out for 9 months, raising doubts about his level.

Despite returning for the end of the season, Rodri continues to raise doubts. This could affect his possible signing by Real Madrid during this summer transfer window. The club has always been very cautious with the deals it makes.

Given the doubts about his performance, Real Madrid must choose whether to take the risk this summer or wait until the next. The sale of Rodrygo could determine this operation. Seeking between €80 million and €100 million ($87 million–$109 million) for Rodrygo, Real Madrid trusts it will receive a good offer.

The end of Rodrygo's era

Playing as a right winger, Rodrygo has been key for Real Madrid since 2019. Even so, given Xabi's lack of trust and Premier League interest, his departure wouldn't be negative for him. In search of playing time, Rodrygo can achieve this through his sale to another club.
