Ancelotti's Striking Message in Press Conference Remembering Marcelino

The Real Madrid coach supported Marcelino's words after the possible penalty on Bellingham

This Sunday, the Santiago Bernabéu was the scene of a demanding duel for Real Madrid. With effort and no room for error, the Madridists managed to win 1-0, thanks to a great goal by Fede Valverde. Although Athletic Club lined up several non-regular players, they seriously challenged the team led by Carlo Ancelotti for much of the match.

In the first 45 minutes, the white team had difficulties creating danger against an Athletic well-positioned at the back and focused on defensive order. It wasn't until the second half that Real Madrid changed the pace and began to create clear opportunities, although their lack of accuracy prevented them from taking the lead. When everything pointed to a frustrating draw, Valverde broke the deadlock with a powerful shot that went into Unai Simón's corner.

Carlo Ancelotti's Complaints in the Press Conference

During the match, Real Madrid suffered several quite striking actions against them. First, Vinícius's goal was disallowed for a millimetric offside by Endrick. Additionally, Jude Bellingham caused a penalty that was not called by the referee.

After the match, Carlo Ancelotti remembered the action and had some somewhat ironic words when asked.

"The disallowed goal for Vini is unquestionable in this sense because it's almost automatic. The VAR hasn't called the penalty on Bellingham. It's the new soccer, the modern one, and I think Marcelino will agree with me", he explained.

What Did Marcelino Say a Few Hours Earlier?

A few hours earlier, Villarreal CF drew two against Real Sociedad in a match marked by refereeing controversy. Marcelino García Toral, the groguet coach, was quite angry in the post-match press conference.

"The referee's decisions, between what happened on the field and in the VAR, have to be analyzed by those responsible. It seems that the refereeing was excellent. For me, what was good was the team's performance", commented Marcelino.

Carlo Ancelotti remembered those words after the action on Jude Bellingham, in which the referee did not call a penalty.
