It's not official, but significant updates with Real Madrid's numbers are expected
The official list of Real Madrid's squad numbers for the 25/26 season hasn't been released yet. However, some of the doubts, especially regarding the new signings, are already being solved. Trent took number 12, Huijsen got 24, and Álvaro Carreras has been presented with 18.
Meanwhile, the departures of Lucas Vázquez and Modric have left two more numbers available. Numbers 17 and 10 join 25, which was the other one left to be assigned and doesn't have a player. Although some changes are expected that could affect everything for the season.
Although there have been doubts about Arda Güler, number 10 would go to Mbappé, which would free up number 9 that he has worn this season. There would be three available squad numbers and three players who still don't have one assigned. This is the case for Franco Mastantuono, who will be presented in August, and Gonzalo and Asencio, who are "promoted" from Castilla.
This will mean that Gonzalo and Endrick could compete to wear number 9 on their backs. Although it seems the preference will be for the Brazilian, who was waiting for Mbappé to give it up this summer. Doubts about number 10 that could change everything
It seemed clear that Mbappé would take number 10 as soon as Luka Modric left it available with his departure. It's the number he has used both at PSG and with the French national team, leaving it aside at Madrid. The Croatian made him choose number 9 for this season.
The logical change with Modric's departure isn't so clear right now because of Güler. The Croatian also wanted to wear that number, although he will respect any decision the club makes. But his latest posts have raised doubts about what could happen.
The Turk has posted images on social media where number 10 has been the protagonist in one way or another. This has led many to think that Mbappé will ultimately continue with number 9. The one who will inherit Modric's number at Real Madrid would be Arda Güler.
