The 2 Center-backs Raúl Asencio Has 'pushed' Out of Real Madrid, Confirmed

Real Madrid has made a definitive decision. Mario Gila and Rafa Marín will not return to the team. Raúl Asencio's emergence in the first team has completely closed their doors.

Mario Gila, No Option to Return

Gila debuted with the first team on April 30, 2022, in the victory against Espanyol that secured LaLiga. A few months later, he was transferred to Lazio for six million euros.

Madrid retains 50% of his economic rights. However, there is no buyback option. If Lazio decides to sell him, the Whites could match the offer, but they have no plans to do so.

The center-back has established himself in Serie A, and his market value continues to rise. In Valdebebas, they see him as a source of income, not as a future reinforcement.

Rafa Marín, A Loan Without Prominence

Rafa Marín's case is different. His loan to Napoli is not working. Antonio Conte has barely given him five minutes in Serie A.

The Italian club invested 12 million in his signing, but his buyback price is high. In 2026, Madrid could recover him for 25 million. In 2027, the figure would rise to 35 million.

Even so, Napoli has secured a special clause. If they pay an extra 10 million in the first year, the amounts would rise to 50 and 70 million. A sum that makes his return unfeasible.

Raúl Asencio Closes the Debate

The main reason neither Gila nor Marín have a place is Raúl Asencio. The Real Madrid center-back has impressed the coaches with his maturity and quality.

Since his debut against Osasuna, in which he provided an assist, he has played 26 matches, totaling 1,621 minutes. His performances have established him as the starting center-back alongside Rüdiger.
