The 3 major sacrifices of Xabi Alonso in the new Real Madrid: they won't be starters

Xabi Alonso is starting to plan his ideal starting eleven for next season

Real Madrid is starting a new era under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, who will have a squad that combines veteran players with young prospects. According to Manu Carreño on "El Larguero", the possible first starting eleven for the Basque coach is already known. This line-up not only shows the ambitions of the white team, but also proves the sporting project with which they aim to establish an era of sustained success.

It is worth remembering that Real Madrid will make their debut in the Club World Cup on June 18 against Al-Hilal. However, Xabi Alonso won't have all the desired pieces, since Mastantuono will join the team later. The signing of Álvaro Carreras is also pending, as he will play the tournament with SL Benfica.

Many changes in the defensive line

In goal, everything remains clear: Thibaut Courtois will continue to be responsible for protecting Real Madrid's goal. There are no changes in that position, since the club keeps full trust in the Belgian goalkeeper.

The defense presents significant changes, especially at right back, where Trent Alexander-Arnold joins. The Briton will provide the team with greater fluidity in building from the back, accuracy in set pieces, and offensive depth down his flank. In addition, the Tolosa native will seek to take over a position that in recent years has belonged to Dani Carvajal.

In the center of defense, Xabi Alonso would opt for the youth of Dean Huijsen from the start. Next to him, the starting spot would be contested by Éder Militao—who returns after a long injury—and Antonio Rüdiger, depending on the Brazilian's physical condition and match fitness. Raúl Asencio would move to the third/fourth center-back position, although he will still play plenty of minutes.

At left back, Real Madrid plans to add Álvaro Carreras, currently with Benfica. Although his arrival will take place once the Club World Cup is over, he already has a clear role assigned in the starting eleven. From there, the white team will consider possible departures of Ferland Mendy or Fran García.

Franco Mastantuono to revitalize the midfield

The midfield will be formed by a trio that combines physical power, range, and creativity. Aurélien Tchouaméni will serve as the pillar in the middle, responsible for providing defensive cover and keeping tactical balance. Next to him, Fede Valverde will bring energy and versatility, while Jude Bellingham will continue to play his role as an attacking midfielder.

The new piece will be Franco Mastantuono. At 17 years old, the player will have to adapt to European soccer, although Xabi Alonso sees him as a starter in the medium/short term.

Finally, the attacking area will be occupied by Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius. The duo could be lethal in terms of goals, but Xabi Alonso aims to convince them on the defensive side. Additionally, players like Rodrygo, Endrick, Brahim, or Gonzalo will wait for their chance from the bench.
