The 5 Defenders on Madrid's 2025-26 Agenda, One of Them is Coming for Sure

Saliba, Huijsen, Hato, Lukeba, and Tah are the names on Florentino Pérez's table to strengthen the center of the defense

Real Madrid Is Already Working on the Planning for the 2025-26 Season. One of the main objectives is to strengthen the defense. With Militao suffering a long-term injury and the age of key players like Alaba, the club is looking for young and reliable options.

The sports management is already considering five specific names. Some are more viable than others, but all are being closely monitored. One of them, according to sources close to the club, has a high chance of arriving this very summer.

William Saliba: Almost Impossible Option, but the Most Desired

The Frenchman is one of the most valued center-backs at the moment. He shines at Arsenal, and his performance has been consistent.

However, he is under contract until 2027 and the English club has no intention of selling. His signing is very unlikely in the short term. Additionally, it would be a very costly operation, exceeding 80 million euros.

Dean Huijsen: Liked, but His Price Stops Madrid

The Spanish-Dutch center-back belongs to Juventus. He is on loan at Roma, where he has made great progress. Madrid likes him a lot for his technical and physical profile.

The big problem is his release clause: 58 million euros. The club considers it a price too high for now.

Jorrel Hato has the handicap that the Premier is ahead. The young Ajax defender is one of the most promising talents in Europe. He is only 18 years old but is already a regular starter.

Madrid has been following him for months, but Premier League teams have already initiated concrete contacts. That could complicate any operation.

Lukeba, who plays at RB Leipzig, is another option that Real Madrid is considering. He has good ball distribution, youth, and experience in the Bundesliga. It wouldn't be an easy operation, but it is more accessible than others.

Jonathan Tah: the Closest

The Bayer Leverkusen center-back is the name most likely to wear white. His contract is entering its final year.

Additionally, his performance has been spectacular this season with Xabi Alonso's team. Madrid is following him very closely, and negotiations could start soon.

Florentino Pérez and his team are clear that the future of the defense needs reinforcements. Among these five names is, almost certainly, the next signing for the defense.
