Tomás Roncero explodes over Camavinga, gives Xabi Alonso homework for this season
The journalist believes that this year the Frenchman must break out as a star and assigns the coach the task of bringing out his top-level performance
Tomás Roncero has raised his voice again. This time, with a clear message: Xabi Alonso must get much more out of Eduardo Camavinga. That's what the deputy director of Diario AS wrote in his latest opinion piece.
For Roncero, the Frenchman is "a diamond in the rough." He believes that he has unique qualities, but so far he hasn't been utilized as he should be. He points directly to the new Real Madrid coach.
"A left foot of gold and diamonds"
Camavinga, who arrived in the middle of the pandemic at just 18 years old, has achieved something special: winning over Madridists as if he were a homegrown player. In fact, for UEFA, he's listed as a club-trained player.
But Roncero believes that his development is still incomplete. He highlights his physique, his quality, and his youth. He uses his performance in the Wembley final against Dortmund as an example: "He overflowed with talent on a night of maximum demand," he writes.

Despite this, he acknowledges that Camavinga has flaws. He points out a certain inconsistency and poor decisions at key moments. However, he's convinced that all of this can be corrected with continuity and trust.
"Camavinga must be ambitious"
Roncero doesn't just point to Xabi Alonso. He also sends a direct message to Camavinga himself: "Be ambitious and take advantage of this opportunity." He believes that his moment has come and that he must show that he deserves to wear the number 6 jersey he inherited from Nacho.
The journalist asks the coach to give him a leading role. He asks the player not to settle. "He has youth, quality in abundance, and a museum-worthy left foot," he insists.

Real Madrid is building a new cycle with Xabi Alonso and Roncero is clear about it: Camavinga must be a key piece in that project. He has everything to shine. He just needs to feel important.
The message has been sent. Madridists are waiting, Roncero is too, and now it's Camavinga and Xabi Alonso's turn.
