Tomás Roncero explodes over Vini's contract renewal, request and a very important piece of advice

The journalist asks the Brazilian to refocus on playing soccer, forget the controversy, and the details of his contract renewal

Tomás Roncero has shared his opinion and he's done so with his heart on his sleeve. The journalist and deputy director of Diario AS has published an open letter to Vinicius Júnior amid the talks for his contract renewal with Real Madrid.

A letter full of emotion, but also of warnings.

"Listen to me, forget about asking for money"

Roncero doesn't hesitate to show his affection for the Brazilian. He has admired him since he arrived in Madrid at just 18 years old. He recalls his difficult beginnings, the memes, the criticism, and that first bite he received from an Atlético player in a reserve team classic: "It was the introduction to what awaited you," he says.

But he also highlights how Vini kept growing. How he went from a questioned prospect to a key piece. How, under Ancelotti's trust, he became one of the best wingers in the world: "You were key in Champions 14 and 15," Roncero states.

However, something changed. According to the journalist, Vini lost part of his essence.

He started getting into unnecessary battles. He was seen more concerned about what happened off the field than on it.

That's where he throws his dart: "Forget about asking for money. Remember the happy kid who came from Flamengo."

Roncero asks him to smile again

The letter is also a wake-up call. It's advice from someone who respects him. Roncero doesn't downplay the attacks the Brazilian has suffered, nor the racism, nor the insults.

But he believes that Vinicius can't let that affect him so much and that he has to enjoy himself again: "They stole your smile," he writes. "But you can get it back."

He finishes with a sincere request: that he stops thinking about numbers and focuses on the ball again: "Listen to me: Forget about the money, go back to being who you were, the one who left rivals behind with a smile."

With this letter, Roncero wants to remind Vinicius what it means to wear white and also that, at Real Madrid, the greats have always spoken on the field.

The ball is his best argument and that, Vini, he knows better than anyone.
